From 2030, the EU will impose mandatory eco-design via the European Sustainable Product Regulation (ESPR) and the 2025-2030 plan: circularity, reparability, recyclability of metals, furniture and electronics. France 2030 finances innovations such as the MMS to meet these regulatory requirements. Building liners, buildings or aircraft with second-life materials is becoming a necessity.
When data transforms offcuts into resources
Reeverse Systems' mission is to help manufacturers meet the challenges of competitiveness, sovereignty and sustainability. "Material is tomorrow's gold", sums up Sandrine Mollé, President and founder.
In 2020, manufacturers were losing 30% of their materials due to a lack of visibility on material flows and deposits. Faced with this situation, Reeverse Systems carried out a study in over 30 factories, and this field analysis gave birth to the Material Management System (MMS) : an ERP system that digitizes each production scrap right from the design stage, for intelligent reuse.
As soon as the cutting program is defined, the MMS anticipates aluminum, PVC or steel profile offcuts , even before the first cut. Thanks to dynamic bar setting, the machines cut optimally to maximize material yield. The operatorsimply sets the minimum length of off-cut to be kept, and the system displays a complete catalog of available off-cuts almost instantaneously.
This immediate visibility changes industrial planning. The MMS cross-references future production requirements with the stock of reusable off-cuts, indicating precisely whether an existing off-cut meets specifications or whether new material is required. 100% traceability, from design to delivery, for improved logistics management.
A unique innovation with an ROI of less than 18 months
This approach is based on four years of R&D and two international patents filed in France and abroad on automatic material characterization in real and forecast time, unrivalled on the market to date.
Unlike conventional material optimization solutions, which are limited to the cutting station, MMS intervenes right from the design stage. This upstream vision of the supply chain makes it possible to organize circular batches, guarantee compliance with cost-quality-delay constraints, and optimize overall plant efficiency.
First-year results:
-
Operational circularity with 5 to 15% material savings and ROI achieved in less than 18 months, depending on the industrial sector.
-
Easy to implement: in less than two months, the material database is active. A collaborative project team of Reverse experts and customer managers formalizes the new circular flow and validates the business and data specifications.
-
Seamless integration with existing tools: CAD/CAM, ERP, cutting machines. Zero disruption to production and immediate results.
Towards a standardized circular industry
A major challenge remains: to create a common, traceable and interoperable language for materials, so that every second-life material can circulate between industrial sectors and ecosystems.
This is the ambition of Reeverse Systems, which has earned it the Grand Prix National France 2030. This prize recognizes the most disruptive technological innovations in support of the ecological transition. Of 440 entries, only 9 projects, including Reeverse Systems, were rewarded.
The aim is clear: to standardize material data, so that one person's offcuts become another's raw materials. In France, the potential is immense: 396,000 tonnes of aluminum could be reused, representing an annual gain of 25.5 million tonnes of CO₂, if only 30% of offcuts were recovered.
Tomorrow's industry is already being written today, with data as the driving force behind intelligent, sustainable reuse.
